Es gibt viele Bildbände über die Schönheit und die Kultur des Alpenraumes, aber es gibt wenige speziell über die Almen, deren Bewirtschaftung überlebenswichtig ist für den Erhalt dieser Schönheit.
Das Buch ECHT TIROL – ECHT OIMERISCH ist eine fotografische Hommage an die Alm. Die deutsche Fotografin Maren Krings lebte und arbeitete zwei Sommer auf einer Melkalm in den Kitzbüheler Alpen. Dort hat sie ein Gespür dafür bekommen, wie prägend die Alm für das Leben im Tiroler Alpenraum ist.

“Auf den ersten Blick vermitteln Marens Bilder vertraute Eindrücke, die Motive und Menschenbilder sind bekannt. Auch bei ihr sind die Almen grün und sanft, die Berge imposant, die Almleute fotogene Originale.  Aber statt hölzerne Klischees nachzuschnitzen, befreit Maren die Mythen vom Pathos, bringt Charme und Leichtigkeit ins Bild. Und eine Prise Ironie, die sich oft erst bei näherer Betrachtung in unvermuteten Details eröffnet, zum Beispiel beim Skistock, der wie eine Vorhangstange über einem Hüttenfenster befestigt ist.

Many photography books cover the beauty and culture of the alps. Only a few of them focus
on the cultivation of the alp, which is a substantial part for preserving the beauty of the alpine
landscape. The book ECHT TIROL – ECHT OIMERISCH is a photographic homage to the alp. The german
born photographer Maren Krings lived and worked on an alp in the Kitzbüheler mountains
for the length of two summers. During that time she got a sense for the importance of the alp
on the Tyrolean lifestyle and landscape.

„On first sight Marens images convey the familiar impressions, the subjects are already known. Even in her photographs, the alp appears gentle amidst lush grass, monumental mountains and the farmers remain photogenic originals. Instead of carving the same wooden clichés once and again, she breaks free and separates the myth from the pathos, introducing charm and ease into the captured scenes. And there is a hint of irony, unexpectedly found in little details upon closer observation. One of those for example, a ski-pole hanging in place of the curtain rag.

Her approach is gentle, discreet and respectful with true interest and attentiveness to her subjects.“
